PM Modi wearing cap in Golden Temple, Punjab BJP Leader Grewal give clean chit
Ludhiana, 10 December 2016
Punjab BJP Leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal today the air of ongoing the controversy of Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi wearing cap in golden temple in his recent visit. In a press statement here today, while giving the clean chit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sikh BJP Leader said that no ‘Golden Temple or Sikh Gurdwara Maryada’ (Religious code of conduct) was violated during his recent visit to Golden Temple while wearing a cap.
The controversy gained ground on the social media that the Hon'ble Prime Minister had allegedly violated ‘Golden Temple or Sikh Gurdwara Maryada’ by wearing a cap instead of covering his head with a cloth.
Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by Afghanistan President Janab Ashraf Ghani, together visited the holiest of the Sikh shrines (Golden Temple) on December 3 during the ‘Heart of Asia’ conference at Amritsar. Both wore caps to cover their heads during their visit.
Grewal said it is observed that Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi being a Hindu has covered his head with cap as he is not Sikh so he did not violate 'Sikh Maryada'. Many Hindus and other community people used to pay obeisance at Gurdwaras while wearing caps or covering their head with a ‘Rumala Sahib’ (piece of cloth) but Sikhs could not enter the Gurdwaras while wearing a cap and if they do so there is violatation of maryada. He said Sikh Rahat Maryada is only for Sikhs not for other community people.
Grewal said every community has separate maryada. He said when Queen Elizabeth visited Golden Temple while wearing hat at that time Late Jathedar Sardar Gurcharan Singh Tohra was SGPC president and she was accorded red carpet welcome .
Grewal claimed that PM Modi has full faith in Sikhism and he respect it our core of his heart. He observed it during Hon'ble Prime Minister's recent visit at Anandpur Sahib. Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the functiona at Anandpur Sahib as a humble man .
