Dharmendra Pradhan plays peacemaker, pump owners call off strike - Grewal

New Delhi: 15 June, 2017
FAIPT National Secretary and Spokesperson Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said that now Petrol, diesel price to be revised at 6 am every day from June 16. Petrol pump owners and operators called off their proposed strike against daily fuel price revision from June 16 on Wednesday, following oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan's assurance to address their concerns.

This paves the way for seamless implementation of daily fuel price revision throughout the country from Friday, with a helping hand from the state-run refiner marketers who are setting up 87 control rooms to intervene in case of any glitch.

At a meeting with representatives of Federation of All India Petroleum Traders, Pradhan described the dealers as "family" and asked oil company executives to address their issues in a time-bound manner. "There was some practical difficulties which we have addressed with leadership of all the three petroleum dealers associations," Pradhan said.

As a concession to dealers, it was decided that petrol pumps will switch over to new rates at 6am daily instead of the previous night.

FAIPT National Secretary Grewal thanked Pradhan for his intervention, saying the minister had asked for rolling out automation on war footing. Similarly, Pradhan also asked oil companies to refresh the marketing discipline guideline to avoid undue harassment of dealers. "We are in favour of the initiatives to increase penetration of automated outlets and support the move to implement a daily pricing of fuel," Grewal said
