Police and other officials should be given a free hand - Grewal

Police and other officials should be given a free hand so that they can discharge their Duty as per the law. All India Secretary BJP Kisan Morcha and Prabhari Himachal Pradesh Advocate, Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal write a letter today to the Punjab Chief Minister Sr. Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister, President SAD Sr. Sukhbir Singh Badal in which he stressed the need for the police and other officials should be given a free hand so that they can discharge their duty as per the law of the land. Talking with the media persons here today at BJP Kisan Morcha, Party Office, New Delhi Grewal said that the clear instructions should be given to the police and other officials that in case of their involvement in any wrong doing, they will be dealt with strictly. Grewal said that the ruling SAD has appointed MLA's and former MLA as "HALKA INCHARGE" who reportedly dictate terms to officials at the District level. Grewal stressed it's a time and need for doing away with the Akali practice of appointing "HALKA INCHARGE" which are Assembly constituency chiefs. He said that there is also a problem was the deteriorating law and order. He said the constituency "HALKA INCHARGE" wields unlimited powers in his respective police stations. Grewal said such practice sends a wrong message among the people and leads to resentment among people of Punjab. Grewal said despite the strong Narendra Modi wave in the country but the results in Punjab were far from satisfactory. He said that a huge anti incumbency against the Punjab State Government now picture resulted in the Aam Aadmi Party securing four seats even though it lost everywhere in Punjab. Grewal said the Drug issue had also hit the state hard. He said the people of Punjab vented their ire over the Government’s inability to check the menace by voting against the SAD-BJP Alliance.
