BJP field Navjot Singh Sidhu for Jammu and Kashmir election campaign- Grewal

Poonch, Jammu - 23 November 2014:
Punjab BJP Leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said that after successful innings in Haryana assembly elections now Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to field its "cricketer turned politician" Navjot Singh Sidhu for Jammu and Kashmir poll campaign, signaling the rising clout of the star campaigner in the party. Talking with the media persons here today Grewal told that the former MP from Amritsar will address three public meetings in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. Grewal also told that Sidhu would leave Delhi at 8 am and address his first public meeting at Garh Samana Ban in Udhampur district in Rampur constituency, where BJP has fielded R S Pathania. He would address two more meetings at Chenani and Zib Thathi. It's well known to each and everybody that in the run-up to the assembly elections in Haryana, Navjot Singh Sidhu had taken on BJP's Punjab alliance partner Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) criticising it for supporting Ex- Chief Minister Shri O P Chautala led Indian National Lok Dal and publicly exposed the "wrong-doings" of Akalis Chief. Grewal told that Navjot Singh Sidhu would be provided a helicopter for campaigning in Jammu and Kashmir. Grewal said that let Akalis say anything, but Navjot Singh Sidhu is indispensible for BJP high command. This (campaigning for party candidates in states other than Punjab) is also an indication of Navjot Singh Sidhu playing an important role in state or national politics in times to come. Grewal told that Navjot Singh Sidhu has been specially chosen for campaigning for party nominees keeping in mind his demand by the youth of the state. It's also well Known to everybody that last week Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) had officially expressed its displeasure over Navjot Singh Sidhu's repeated caustic attacks against it. It had lodged its protest with BJP, citing Navjot Singh Sidhu's "derogatory remarks" against Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leadership at a function in Ludhiana. Pointing out that it was against the spirit of coalition, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has demanded that the issue be taken up with BJP high command so that Navjot Singh Sidhu could be "tamed". On the other side Navjot Singh Sidhu had said that it was time to have "lok raj (people's rule)" in the state. Without naming Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) he said, "When the entire Punjab unites, these people will scurry away as time has come to end their rule." Taking a dig at the state Government's slogan "Raj nahi sewa", Navjot Singh Sidhu alleged it was 90% commercial gains (mewa) and 10% real service (sewa). "I am often told to speak cautiously. But I am not afraid of speaking the truth," he had said.
