BJP Kisan Morcha - Kisan Adhikar Divas on 30 Jan and Kisan Aakrosh Divas on 7 Feb - Grewal

Ludhiana , 28 January 2014 -
BJP Kisan Morcha National Secretary and Prabhari Himachal Pradesh Advocate Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said that in Congress led UPA Government farmers of our country are facing drought condition created by the policies of government, farmers die and not the crop. Talking with the media persons here today he said that during the 9 years 8 months congress and government rule, 145000 farmers were forced to commit suicides. Grewal told that one farmer dies after every half an hour, becomes helpless to commit suicide after getting trapped in debt net. Government is directly responsible for these suicides. He said that out dated policy and non  implantation of the proposed polices are behind these deaths. Grewal said that If policies are not changed according to changing time, then they become destructive. 50 years ago, agricultural cost and price commission formulaic were formulated. Cost is being calculated there under. There is no provision of farmer’s margin in the calculations of CACP. Grewal said that keeping the formula for giving remunerative prices to farmers in the cold storage for 7 years is a criminal sin. Swaminathan Commission report lying with Government  since 2007. He said that Sr. Manmohan Singh, Shmt. Sonia Gandhi, Shri. Rahul Gandhi and Central Government are directly responsible for suicide by farmers. Don’t open their mouth to implement the report of farmer’s commotions. He said that mad the report been implemented, the farmers would have gotten Rs 2100 for wheat, Rs 2025 for paddy and Rs 375 for sugarcane. The commission had made a recommendation of 50% margin. MSP is less than the cost of wheat and paddy even. Grewal said that the second crime is non-implementation of risk management report. He said that the committee of five chief ministers under the chairmanship of Haryana CM Bhupender Singh Hudda had recommended compensation of minimum of Rs 10000 per acre. He said this report is also lying with govt. since 2010. Government is totally ignoring the farmer’s interest. Farmers are lying because of frost, drought, excessive rains, hail storm, phenil. He said that the interests of farmers are outside the preview of UPA Governments priorities. Grewal said by increasing the cost of agriculture inputs, Government has converted the profit of farmers into loss. He said that decontrol of fertilizers like DAP, MOP, Sulphate, Phosphate allowing their sale in open market like diesel with partial subsidy, three times increase in the prices, increase in the price of diesel every month, increased price of electricity, labour and pesticides have made agriculture the most useless profession. Grewal said that the macro economy policies of Sr. Manmohan Singh have destroyed micro economy of farmers. He said that price is important for farmers growing two crops. Where irrigation is important to the same extant for farmers growing one crop 60% land is deprived of irrigation in the country. Grewal said that for growing second crop, Country’s farmer is not getting infrastructure facility like irrigation. He said that three farmers have been killed in police firing in Maval (Maharashtra) because they were saving water for irrigation. Whereas BJP Governments in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh have increased the irrigated area during the corresponding period. Grewal said that the benefit of UPA government’s loan waiver scheme went to banks and not to farmers. He said that the banks are now sending notices of attachment to farmers. The farmers of Yamuna Nagar in Haryana have offered to give their kidney against payment of loans. Bharat is a country of farmers- farmers compelled to give their kidney in order to save their land and agricultural implements. He said that it reminded the story of Sailack of Merchant of Venis. Government has indirectly become Sailack. Madhya Pradesh govt has given the farmers a singh of relief by providing them interest free loans for one year at this time. Grewal said that the current decade is known as a decade of loot of land of farmers in the name of SEZ. He said that the capalists have built their land bank by acquiring farmer’s lands, 30 farmers have been killed in police firing while protecting their land and for getting irrigation facility and better price during these 10 years in the country. He said that now, they intend to get SEZ dennotified and sell the land at 5-6 times more price. No development of land took place during the 6-7 periods. Purpose changed, 6 times profit in 6 years, the land purchased at a price of 30 lakhs, now sold at Rs two crores. Nothing was given to those, who were in possession of these lands for 600 years. Grewal said that our country is heading towards elections for 16th Lok Sabha, the issues pertaining to farmers do not have any place in the debate at national level. Grewal stated that Kisan Adhikar Divas will be observed on 30th January on death anniversary of Gandhi and Kisan Morcha will stage dharnas in all the 618 district centers in pain and grief and to expose anti- farmer polices of Congress-led government before the general police. He said that BJP Kisan Morcha will be raise following issues that's are the recommendation of Swaminathan Commission regarding remunerative prices with 50% profit must be implemented with immediate effect. Other issue is the recommendation made by the Chief Ministers Committee about compensation of Rs 10000 per acre for risk management must be implemented. The next one issue is to withdraw the increased price of mixed fertilizers. Inputs may be made available to farmers at cheap cost. Grewal said that for water Kisan morcha wants that water should be provided to each field by linking, rivers, water conservation and “Tapka” irrigation. Grewal said that interest free loans must be given for one year on the lines of Madhya Pradesh Government. He said that lands of SEZ being denotified must be given back to farmers. In case the farmers are not able to return the amount they got, then due share of profit may be given to then on the next stage. Grewal said that if the Government does not take any positive step on these demands of the farmers within a week, then we will observed Kisan Aakrosh Divas on 7th February throughout the country and will sit on Railway track for which govt of india will be responsible and not the farmers. Our condition is like that of a man who is on the Verge of dying. Grewal said that BJP Kisan Morcha request all the farmers and farmer’s organizations in the country to participate in this agitation.

Sikh community Should Boycott Congress party - Grewal

Ludhiana 28 January 2014 -
National BJP Leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal called upon the Sikh community to boycott the Congress party and it's leadership. In a press statement here today, just a day after Congress party's National Vice President Rahul Gandhi admitted that some party leaders could be involved in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Grewal condemning Rahul Gandhi for not bothering to tender an apology for the killing of hundreds of Sikhs in the 1984 riots, Grewal said his self-admission of the barbaric crimes of Congressmen in anti-Sikh genocide should be suo moto taken notice of by the courts to take action against such Congress party leaders. Grewal said our party would examine the possibility of legal course of action against the Congress party in view of the brazen admission by Rahul Gandhi in an interview on Times Now channel telecast Monday. It is well known that thousands of Sikhs were killed in various parts of India especially in Delhi and in whole country in November 1984 in the aftermath of the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her two Sikh bodyguards. Grewal said that Rahul Gandhi has added insult to the injured sentiments of the Sikh community. He said that it is condemnable that he did not even bother to tender an apology to the community for the genocide. Grewal questioned if the Congress party Government was aware of the involvement of Congressmen in the 1984 riots. He said that why it had not bothered to put them behind the bars. He said that ridiculing Rahul Gandhi for the comment that guilty Congress leaders would be punished. Grewal said that failure to punish the guilty of the 1984 massacre and rewarding killers with high offices shows the real side of the Congress party and it's leadership.

PSPCL is providing poor consumer services - Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal

 Ludhiana ( Bhukhari Kalan ) , 27 January 2014 -
PSIEC , Punjab Small Industry and Export Corporation Former Vice Chairman, Advocate Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said that our SAD-BJP Government has made several efforts to boost the industrial sector in Punjab state. Grewal said that due to these efforts of SAD-BJP Government as result several business houses are keen to invest in our Punjab. He said that now we have to check Punjab State Power Corporation Limited ( PSPCL ) which is providing poor services to the Consumers in Punjab. In a meeting with Kisan Morcha Workers here today, Grewal lashed out at Punjab State Power Corporation Limited for poor consumer services and absolute non-adherence of Standards of Performance mandated by Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ) appointed by Government of Punjab. Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ) has specified critical distribution parameters to provide efficient, reliable and safe system of Electricity through its regulations provided in its Supply Code. These Minimum Standards of Performance provides strict timelines to resolve various Consumer grievances viz. Normal Fuse Off, Overhead Line Breakdowns, Underground Cable Breakdowns, Distribution Transformer Failure, Power Transformer Failure, Street Light Faults, Period of Scheduled Outage, Voltage Fluctuations, Meter Complaints, Release of New Connection, Transfer of Title or Conversion of Services, Shifting of Meter/Service Connection and other Services, Complaints about Consumer’s Bills and restoration of Supply.
Grewal stated that Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ) mandates a compensation to the Consumer in case of non-fulfillment of these Minimum Standards of Performance. Compensation varies from Rs 50/- to Rs 5000/- for each default for each Consumer. It is well known that Punjab State Power Corporation Limited neither fulfils these Minimum Standard of performance ( MSOP ) nor compensates any Consumer towards any such lapse whereas Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ) mandates payment of such compensation by the way of adjustment in Electricity Bills. For instance, Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ) mandates a normal fuse off complaint shall be addressed within 4 hours in cities, towns and urban areas and in case Punjab State Power Corporation Limited ( PSPCL ) fails to resolve the complaint within 4 hours, it shall remit Rs 50/- as compensation by the way of adjustment in the next bill of the Consumer.
Grewal added that Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ) mandates registration of each and every complaint filed by the Consumer verbally, telephonically or in writing as per a duly approved Consumer Complaint Handling Procedure whereas there is hardly any such effective system in place to register and address consumer complaints. “According to the Annual Revenue Requirement ( ARR ) filed by the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited ( PSPCL ) with the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ), it received only 2462 complaints in a year from over 65 Lac Consumers across Punjab whereas on an average more than 10000 complaints are received daily by the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited which clearly means Punjab State Power Corporation Limited ( PSPCL ) had fudged Annual Revenue Requirement ( ARR ) figures to avoid compensation and save itself from the wrath of Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ) ”, added Grewal.
Grewal stated that he will write to Shri Shanta Kumar MP ( Rajya Sabha ) Prabhari Punjab Pradesh, Shri Balramji Dass Tandon Sr. BJP Leader Punjab BJP, Sr Sukhbir Singh Badal President Shiromani Akali Dal ( SAD ), Deputy Chief Minister and Power Minister Punjab, Shri Kamal Sharma Punjab State President Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ), Shri Tikshan Sud Political Advisor to CM Punjab and also to Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ) to pass strict instructions to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited ( PSPCL ) to ensure registration of each and every complaint and its quick resolution, adhere to the Minimum Standard of performance ( MSOP ) as mandated by Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission ( PSERC ) and compensate each and every Consumer in case of any failure on its part, which is very shameful.

Hold inquiry into PSPCL claim of receiving just 2,462 complaints in a year - BJP Kisan Morcha

JALANDHAR , 25 January 2014 -
Punjab BJP leader and All India Kisan Morcha secretary Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal has sought an enquiry into the Annual Revenue Requirement submitted to Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission by Punjab State Power Supply Corporation which showed only 2,462 complaints in financial year 2012 and 2013.

Citing the figures from the ARR Grewal said that there could be only two possibilities either the corporation infrastructure and working had become super efficient or they fudged the figures to show extremely low number of complaints.

He held that no detail was mentioned with these complaints to show their nature or category. "Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) mandates registration of each and every complaint filed by the Consumer verbally, telephonically or in writing as per a duly approved Consumer Complaint Handling Procedure whereas there is hardly any such effective system in place to register and address consumer complaints," Grewal said.

"According to the Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR) filed by the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) with the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC), it received only 2462 complaints in a year from over 65 Lac Consumers across Punjab whereas on an average more than 10000 complaints are received daily by the PSPCL offices across the state," . had fudged Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR) figures to avoid compensation and save itself from the wrath of Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC)," added BJP Kisan Morcha leader claimed.

"In case of non-fulfillment of these Minimum Standards of Performance about addressing and solving the complaints, compensation varies from Rs 50 to Rs 5000 for each fault to a consumer when its redressal crosses the stipulated time but the PSPCL has never paid any compensation to any consumer," he alleged.

He said that he has even written to BJP Punjab affairs incharge Shanta Kumar apart from Punjab chief minster and deputy CM to hold a high level and independent enquiry to ensure transparency and accountability in the working of the PSPCL in terms of addressing the complaints from the consumers.

Grewal welcomed Canada Government to tighten spousal immigration sponsorship rules.

Ludhiana , 24 January 2014 -
National Secretary BJP Kisan Morcha and Prabhari Himachal Pradesh Advocate Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal today welcome the new Canadian Law by the Government in which Ottawa to tighten spousal immigration sponsorship rules. He said it's a good move intended to crack down on bogus marriages in which Ottawa has increased the length of time that a sponsored immigrant can turn around and sponsor a new partner. Grewal said that the new rules take effect immediately and are meant to prevent people from fraudulently marrying Canadians to get into the country, only to turn around and leave that sponsor to bring in another spouse. He said it's fine policy of the Canada Government that Canadians who sponsor immigrants are financially responsible for them for three years. Under the new rules, a spouse must wait five years from the day they are granted permanent residence status in Canada before they can sponsor a new spouse. He said it is done after town hall meetings across the country to hear from victims of marriage fraud by Citizen and Immigration Minister Jason Kenney. Grewal said it's really to the heartbreak and pain that came from being lied to and deceived, these people were angry, who felt they had been used as a way to get to Canada. We're taking action because immigration to Canada should not be built upon deceit. Grewal said that new rule changes are in line with United States, Australia and the United Kingdom which have waiting periods of two to three years before a sponsored spouse could be come a permanent resident of Canada. He stated that it has come to know that Minister Jason Kenney has long promised to tackle marriage fraud. Two years ago, Ottawa held online consultations to solicit public opinion on the issue. The new measures come after Ottawa resident Lainie Towell's ex-husband was deported to his native Guinea. Towell's husband left her nearly one year after they exchanged vows in Guinea and four weeks after he arrived in Canada as Towell's sponsored spouse.
