Ludhiana, February 8, 2009
The Ludhiana Citizen’s Council organised a seminar-cum-debate on terrorism here today. Experts from various fields, including Lok Sabh Deputy Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal, former Punjab DGP KPS Gill, former MP Sunil Shastri and BJP’s investor cell chairman Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal, took part in the seminar.
Atwal said: “An anti-terror squad should be formed at the national level. We must strengthen ourselves to fight terrorism.”
Urging parties to come together to tackle the menace, he said the problem could be weeded only if there was a united stand against it.
Terming information technology a tool in the hands to terrorists, Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said: “Social networking sites like Orkut and Facebook had been helping terrorist groups to promote and organise their activities. Besides, Google and Youtube have become tools for learning anything just by sitting home.”
Unless the nation became strong enough to curb cyber crime, nothing concrete could be achieved in this direction, he added.
Among others present were CMC director Dr AG Thomas, Muslim Pers Law Board chairman Mohd. Usman and DAV School principal RS Patial.
